History Analyzer — Guide
How to get your
Spotify listening history

No login required. You don't need to share your Spotify password with this site. Spotify lets you export your own data as JSON files — we simply read those files locally in your browser.

Step-by-step guide
1
Log in to your Spotify account
Go to spotify.com/account and sign in. This is Spotify's official website — you are logging into Spotify, not this tool.
2
Open Account Privacy settings
Scroll down the page until you find the Account privacy section. You can also reach it directly at spotify.com/account/privacy.
3
Request Extended Streaming History
Scroll down to the Download your data section. Check the box next to Extended streaming history. This is different from the basic "Account data" — it contains your full listening history, not just the last 90 days.
4
Click "Request data" and confirm
Click the Request data button. Spotify will send a confirmation email to your registered address. Click the link in that email to confirm the request. Important: without confirming via email, Spotify will not prepare your data.
5
Wait for Spotify's email
Spotify typically takes 3 to 30 days to prepare your data (but it can often take even less). You'll receive an email with a download link when it's ready. The exact time depends on how much data you have.
6
Download and use the ZIP file
Click the download link in the email. You'll receive a ZIP file containing several JSON files. You can either drop the ZIP directly onto this tool, or extract it and upload the files named Streaming_History_Audio_*.json.
Which export option should I choose?

When requesting your data from Spotify, you'll see two main checkboxes. Here's the difference:

For History Analyzer ✓
Extended streaming history
Full listening history with timestamps. This is what the History Analyzer reads.
For Playlist Exporter
Account data
Contains all your playlists with track listings. Use this for the Playlist Exporter.

You can request both at the same time by checking both boxes before clicking "Request data".

What files will I receive?

Inside the ZIP, Spotify includes several types of files. For the History Analyzer, only the audio streaming history files matter:

Streaming_History_Audio_*.json
Your complete listening history — the files this tool reads. There may be multiple (e.g. _0, _1, _2…).
Streaming_History_Video_*.json
Video/podcast streaming history. These are ignored by the History Analyzer.
userdata.json
General account data. Not used by this tool.
Follow.json, Inferences.json…
Other personal data files. Not used by this tool.
💡 Tip: You don't need to extract the ZIP at all — just drag and drop the entire ZIP file onto the upload area. The tool will automatically extract and process only the relevant files.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between "Account data" and "Extended streaming history"?

Account data covers only the last 90 days of listening. Extended streaming history covers your entire listening history since you created your account — which is what you want for a complete analysis.

Is it safe to upload my Spotify data to this site?

Yes. Your files are never uploaded to any server. All processing happens locally in your browser. The files are read in memory and discarded when you close the tab. This is why no login or account is required.

My ZIP has many JSON files — which ones should I upload?

You can upload the whole ZIP without extracting it. If you extract it, upload all files named Streaming_History_Audio_*.json. You can safely ignore all other files.

Why might some plays be missing or inaccurate?

Spotify's own documentation notes that extended history data may have gaps or inaccuracies, especially for older plays or offline listening sessions. This tool displays exactly what Spotify provides — it cannot correct Spotify's data.
